FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
James Bogusz, President and CEO of Regina Airport Authority proudly announced today that the airport has earned the Airports Council International (ACI) Level 1 Carbon Accreditation status in recognition of its work to reduce carbon emissions.
Airport Carbon Accreditation strives to assist the airport industry to effectively reduce its environmental footprint. The benefits of the program include increased efficiency through lowered CO2 emissions, shared expertise and knowledge exchange, as well as better communication of the results.
“As we look to the future and consider long term plans to better serve our region, we want environmental considerations to be a stronger part of that focus,” said Bogusz. “Carbon accreditation is a way to demonstrate that commitment and allow us to ensure CO2 emissions directly produced by the Airport Authority are properly accounted for.”
Since the program’s inception, there have been 10 airports in Canada who have achieved accreditation. The Regina Airport Authority is now the first airport in Saskatchewan to join that group.
“We will continue to balance the needs of the community, economic growth and the environment in our operations.” said Bogusz.
