Indigenous Artisan Market – June 19 & 20, 2023

June 14, 2023

On June 19 and 20, the Newo Yotina Friendship Centre, Canada Border Services Agency, and the Regina Airport Authority will host an Indigenous Artisan Market in honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day.

The market will showcase more than 15 artists, all of which will be available to talk about their work. Items for purchase include beadwork, ribbon skirts, paintings, dream catchers and more. Bannock and orange shirt pins will also be available for a donation to the Newo Yotina Friendship Centre.

This market is open to the public from 9 am to 5 pm both days, and parking will be free for up to two hours for anyone coming to the market.

We are honoured to have special guest, Grammy Award-winning Norma Flying Horse (Red Berry Woman) in attendance to share her story:

Red Berry Woman is a fashion line that incorporates Native American traditional garment styles into contemporary couture garments and ready to wear for both women and men. RBW was created by Norma Baker-Flying Horse, an enrolled member of the Hidatsa tribe and a member of the Dakota Sioux and Assiniboine tribes as well as an adopted member of the Crow Nation. RBW is the recipient of the 2020 International Designer of the year, the 2022 Phoenix Fashion Week Designer of the Year, and the 2022 Cultural Recognition Visual Arts Grammy Award co-recipient. Giving her business her Native given name, Red Berry Woman, Norma strives to create pieces that honor and celebrate her tribal bloodlines.
