FLIGHTS AT YQR ON THE RISE

April 27, 2023

Flight capacity at the Regina International Airport to rebound to 93% of pre-pandemic capacity this summer.

“This summer, we are seeing Air Canada and WestJet bring the most available seats to our market since 2019”, said Justin Reves, Director, Revenue Development, Public Relations, and Customer Experience at the Regina Airport Authority, “This is great news for the public because more airline capacity means more options to fly with more competitive pricing.”

  • Air Canada will have more capacity this summer to Toronto and Vancouver than in 2019. With Air Canada providing 3 flights per day to both Toronto and Vancouver, compared to 2019, our community will have 2,800 more seats to Toronto and over 1,000 more seats to Vancouver this summer.
  • Air Canada is returning with daily flights to Montreal starting June 1st.
  • WestJet is bringing 8,000 more seats this summer between Regina and Calgary with up to 7 flights per day between the cities. They will also be flying daily to both Vancouver and Toronto, twice a day to Edmonton, and five times per week to Winnipeg.
  • WestJet will be starting non-stop flights to Kelowna Thursdays and Sundays beginning May 18th.

“As a result of the tremendous effort from our business community, conference, event, and visitor attraction, tourism promotion, and a strong economy, we’re seeing airline capacity rebounding,” said James Bogusz, President and CEO, Regina Airport Authority, “This is exciting news and we see great things ahead thanks to the incredible work that’s happening in our community.”
