Full-Scale Emergency Exercise at YQR
September 9, 2024
The Regina Airport Authority (RAA) and airport partners will host a full-scale emergency exercise on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. This major event, which will be held between 8 am and 11 am, will test the emergency response plans and capabilities of the airport and local partners.
The emergency exercise, which includes over 150 people, will be a simulation of an aircraft accident near the main runway as well as an emergency at the terminal. Transport Canada mandates that internationally designated Canadian airports test their emergency response plan every two years with a full-scale exercise.
There will be emergency vehicles and personnel from many different agencies participating in the exercise, including Regina Fire, Regina Police, Saskatchewan ERS, Canada Border Services, Public Safety Canada, NAV Canada, our airline partners, and more. During the exercise, there will be plumes of smoke appearing in the direction of airport, actors in makeup appearing to be in distress, and an additional presence of emergency responders. This is all part of the controlled emergency exercise that has been planned.
We thank the public and travellers in advance for their support of this very important event at YQR.
